The third service provided by the experts of the S3 Community of Practice (S3 CoP) to Thematic Partnerships has recently started. On this occasion, the Traceability & Big Data Partnership has selected the Demonstration Service.
It is a service designed for advanced Partnerships, i.e. partnerships that already have a clear and well-established governance structure, that have clearly defined their mission and scope of activities, that have mapped their challenges, complementary actors and assets across regions. As a result, these partnerships should have a first view on possible activities and projects to be deployed between regions. They are now ready to move on to the next step, but they still need assistance for the design and development of (joint) pilot or demonstration activities and projects.
The S3 CoP offers to regions a menu of possible subservices and activities that can be activated depending on the needs and requests of the Partnership. The exact journey followed by the Partnership is tailor-made, following a scoping meeting that frame the needs and requests. The common denominator to all support services offered is the help to set up the necessary processes leading to identifying, assessing, selecting and monitoring demonstration projects.
The experts in charge of the service will work together our Working Groups in one of the following activities:
1. Support for the design of demonstration projects. Possible work on support for identification, definition and validation of demonstration projects or support for design and writing concept notes.
2. Support for setting up a permanent pipeline of demonstration projects. The two options available are to work on supporting the setup of a permanent system of ideation and identification of projects, or to set up a permanent communication lines and activities to follow up on new project ideas launched.
3. Support for monitoring through a permanent system to assess the activities or for setting up and updating the list of service providers.
At the following meeting, together with the Working Group leaders, we will decide the most appropriate option to work in, with the objective of designing the tailored actions to be developed.
Additionally, the S3 CoP experts will conduct a workshop in the next Traceability & Big Data technical meeting. It will focus on going into detail about the content of the Service and it will allow in-deep discussion.
The expected outcomes are the design of a demonstration project and the development of tools to facilitate future project generation.
