Pays de la Loire

The Pays de la Loire Region is located in the west of France, from the Atlantic coast to the Loire Valley, due to its location and climate it is a region suitable for various type of agriculture. Therefore, the agrifood sector is very important for the region as the following figures prove:  

• Agrofood industry represents around 50,000 jobs and agriculture around 60,000.
• 600 SME’s and 35,000 farms.
• Agrifood sector is the first industrial sector in the region Pays de la Loire.
• 254 quality labels for its agricultural products. 
• 70% of the Pays de la Loire territory is used for farming.

As the Regional Association of Agrofood Industries – LIGERIAA mentions on its website, in terms of innovation, the Pays de la Loire region can also count of a “scientific environment conduciveto innovation” thanks to its great research network.

Projects like Regions 4Food and SmartAgriHubs, in which the Pays de la Loire Region is involved, help the development of this tendency.

Furthermore, in order to encourage the digital transition of all its territory, the Regional Council has recently set up a new grant : “Pays de la Loire investissement numérique” that helps SME’s to invest indigital tools to add value to their business.
